It is extremely difficult to keep track of what is healthy and what isn't healthy at times. We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us, but in what quantities. Recently, there has been a large development to get the national government to create a National Nutrition Database. The NYC Department of Health, along with 35 health organizations have signed off on a proposal for this database.
According to them the database would require manufacturers to submit nutritional information to this database, including every time a recipe is changed. This database would be kept up to date and be searchable by the public. The groups are focusing on decreasing the amount of sodium used by twenty percent in the next five years.
Personally, I like the idea of a database that would keep track of nutritional information. However, it'll be hard to keep me from eating my french fries with salt. What are your opinions on this proposed database?
